Even when your car isn’t due a service, it’s important to look after and maintain it (inside and out) at home!
Clean it
On a monthly basis clean your car inside and out. Chuck out any rubbish that may have collected in the back seats, receipts dropped on the floor and other empty packets and chuck them in the bin. If you have children consider getting a car bin to collect the rubbish rather than it ending up on the floor!
Hoover the footwells, seats and in the door bins to get all the crumbs out of any nooks and crannies.
Maintaining the interior of your car will help to keep its resale value in the future.
Clean and wash the outside of the car, especially if you park under a tree regularly as bird mess can damage the paintwork!
Tyre pressure
Check your tyre pressure at least once a month to ensure they are still at the correct pressure. Driving with the incorrect tyre pressure can lead to a number of problems including poor braking, less miles to the gallon and flat tyres.
You can check and correct your tyre pressure at most supermarket petrol stations for free so there’s no excuse!
Properly store your car
If you aren’t going to drive your car for a while, ensure it is properly stored. Make sure your car is covered, clean, topped off with petrol, and started every so often to keep the battery fresh.
Check anti freeze and coolant
Anti freeze and coolant help to keep your engine from overheating or freezing so it’s important to keep these topped up.
